The vineyards of the “La Quercia” company, extend in the territory of Morro D’oro, a small town located in the heart of the “Colline Teramane” area in the province of Teramo, on the harmonious and sunny hills between the Adriatic Sea and the Gran Sasso. The great exposure to east and west, the regular altitude of about 250 meters above sea level, the optimal climate and the particular morphology of the land, make it the ideal area for growing grapes with unique characteristics.
The farm is run by three partners who, at the end of the eighties, accidentally became colleagues of Elisabetta Di Berardino. She, as an administrator, began to work at a winery and consultancy, where the oenologist Antonio Lamona had already been working for some years and where the wine technician Fabio Pedicone and the current sales manager Luca Moretti landed after few years. They worked together until 2000, when they decided to take over the company “La Quercia, with which they had already collaborated as consultants.
Today “La Quercia” is a small winery that covers about 52 hectares of vineyards and about three hectares of olive groves with an adjoining wine plant of about 800 square meters with a production capacity of about 10,000 hl of wine. The land is cultivated fully respecting the nature: this is essential to obtain a good product and to respect the health of human beings and the fauna.
During the processing, the product is treated as little as possible: this way it is possible to find in the glass the reflection of the land of origin and its typical characteristics.
The quality and typicality of the product are at the base of the process, and this allows the identification of the wine and the land of origin.
All the wines produced are characterized by a soul strongly linked to the territory from which they come: from the red Montepulciano D’abruzzo passing through other Abruzzo denominations such as Cerasuolo D’Abruzzo, Trebbiano D’Abruzzo, Colli Aprutini Pecorino, Abruzzo Passerina and, finally, Abruzzo Montonico: this is a vine with remote origins, which almost disappeared after the
second World War, and was recovered from “La Quercia” winery obtaining a wine with unique characteristics and becoming the enological ‘pearl of Abruzzo’.
