Nestled at the corner of Piazza San Firenze and Via de’ Gondi, in the historic Palazzo Gondi (a unique gem close to Palazzo Vecchio with 500 years of history). Pasticceria Bar San Firenze has been a beloved part of Florence’s rich culinary tradition since the early 1900s. The café’s origins are tied to the creation of the iconic Fedora, a delectable dessert made with sponge cake soaked in liquor, whipped cream, and a chocolate shell.
A place of great history, our café resides in a building that was once home to Leonardo da Vinci from 1504 to 1508. It’s believed that the world-renowned artist began painting the Mona Lisa right here in this very spot.
In 1966, when Florence was struck by the devastating flood, our café, like much of the historic center, was severely affected. However, in 1968, brothers Sergio and Marcello Bronzi reopened the café after complete renovations, continuing the family legacy.
