PIEVE DI CAMPOLI

Pieve di Campoli agricultural estate: tradition, quality and sustainability

Founded in 1985, Pieve di Campoli Agricultural Estate was established to consolidate the numerous properties and agricultural lands owned by the Archdiocese of Florence into a single operational entity. The estate is located in the province of Florence, spanning approximately 450 hectares across the territories of seven municipalities.

The estate includes over 50 hectares of vineyards situated within the Chianti and Chianti Classico consortia, as well as more than 20,000 olive trees planted across 100 hectares of land. Named after the Church of Santo Stefano a Campoli, located in the heart of Chianti Classico, Pieve di Campoli strives to produce high-quality products while ensuring economic sustainability for its workers. The company’s motto is, in fact, “Putting human first” Five souls, just one heart The estate’s vineyards are distributed across two municipalities, within the boundaries of two DOCG appellations.

These vineyards span five large viticultural zones, collectively covering around 50 hectares. Each area boasts unique microclimatic characteristics, directly reflected in the wines, which showcase the distinct personality of each vineyard. The terroir and the wines The influence of the terroir on the wines is a precious asset. The variety of altitudes and climates contributes to diverse wines, each embodying the vineyard of its origin.

Some of the vineyards are historic plantings, with vines over fifty years old, and the most promising ones have been selected to become true Cru. The estate’s leading grape variety is undoubtedly Tuscan Sangiovese. Traditional regional varieties such as Malvasia Bianca and Trebbiano for whites, and Canaiolo and Colorino for reds, also flourish here. The portfolio is complemented by international varieties like Merlot and Petit Verdot, as well as the unique Pugnitello, a native Tuscan grape that has found its ideal home in the Cypress Vineyard of San Donato in Poggio.

The wines of Campoli & Cortine: two expressions of a single passion The estate’s diverse terroirs are distilled into two product lines. The first, the Pieve line, reflects the company’s most traditional and historic expression. The second, launched in 2019, showcases the Cru areas of the ancient hamlet of Cortine, celebrating their unique characteristics and excellence.
