Ancient recipes of the most genuine Tuscan cuisine
Recently renovated and furnished respecting the preservation of its history but also the idea of a new fresh look (making creative use of small rooms and courtyards), Le Fonticine restaurant welcomes you in a traditional, intimate, simple and elegant atmosphere. Its story begins way back in 1939, when the then- owners met, giving birth to what would become one of Florence’s most famous restaurants.
Today Alex – the new owner – and Alcide -the restaurant manager- have restored Le Fonticine to its origins, when it was one of the favorite place of the best Florentine clientele and of those visiting the city. After putting together a team of good professionals, driven by a great passion and love for Florentine history, which shines through the careful research and attention to every single detail, they have worked hard to reopen Le Fonticine, after a long closure due to management problems caused by the recent pandemic.
The expression of the territory is not only a cult, but also and above all a guarantee of the highest quality of all the ingredients used to prepare the dishes: only seasonal, fresh and selected products from the famous central market of S.Lorenzo and from farms and small producers in Tuscany. The house specialties are dishes prepared with love and passion by the chef and his staff. You can start with our selections of Tuscan and Cinta Senese cured meats or organic cheeses, and then be seduced by the fresh pasta dishes and main courses revisited with the taste and lightness that today’s cuisine requires.
Then there is the queen, Bistecca alla Fiorentina, which you can choose from the best sirloins selected by our Chef, Chianina Toscana IGP and fine Scottona Simmental: a female bovine less than 24 months old that expresses all the excellence of Florentine steak, cooked on chestnut, cypress and oak charcoal. When ordered, the chef takes the sirloin, cuts it and shows it to the customer along with a tab showing the breed of the steak, weight and price, certifying its quality. Not least, the selection of meats cooked on our barbecue and, to finish, the homemade desserts.
All this can be paired with an interesting wine list, not only from Tuscany, chosen to best accompany the menu and delight the finest palates. The desire to enhance tradition is also found in the selection of our staff: people who work here with experience and kindness to guarantee customers a pleasant, elegant and friendly informality that will make them feel pampered and “enogastronomically” satisfied!
