“Perchè no!” : ice cream tradition in Florence
The ice cream shop “Perchè no …”(meaning “Why Not!”) is one of the oldest in Florence, and it is located in the historic center of the city. It is known all over the world and it has maintained the tradition of artisan quality ice cream for over 80 years. Family run, Ciro Cammilli, with his wife Paola and their daughters Cecilia and Valentina, offer their customers ice creams, sorbets and semifreddo: fresh products every day with the highest quality ingredients. The staff is polite, friendly, knowledgeable and always ready to fully satisfy every curiosity of yours. The place is not very big, but its scents and the colors of the ice creams convey craftsmanship and love for our work. In addition to classic flavors such as Cream, Pistachio, Hazelnut, Chocolate and many others, you can taste special ice creams such as Ginger, Fiordilatte with caramelized Sesame and Chestnut Honey, Lavender, Orange Chocolate and Rum, Natural Rose, Mat-Cha Green Tea and many others. The fruit ice creams are sorbets and they depend on the seasons; in summer you can find melon, peach and watermelon, in autumn Kaki and Strawberry Grapes, in winter Mandarin, Pomegranate, Orange. They are all made without milk and e suitable for vegans, vegetarians and for lactose intolerant.
Semifreddi are a whole separate chapter, with Tiramisù, Zuppa Inglese, Fedora (old Florentine cake) and various mousses, they have always been tempting the numerous customers who come from all over the world. Quoted from the magazine “Le Figaro” as an ice cream parlor that cannot be missed, from “National Geographic” as one of the ten ice cream shops in the world that has to be visited, chosen by Nigella Lawson to talk about ice cream in her very popular English television broadcasts, and visited by the famous Canadian singer Michael Boublè with his wife and children, we can really say that we are an ice cream parlor with high quality ice creams, in the heart of Florence, open to the world.
