The Vigna Maurisi farm was founded in 2007 by Felice E. Corcione, well-known Director of the National Research Council (CNR) and “Invited Professor” at numerous universities around the world. Once retired from the CNR, he founded the company together with his wife Annamaria and their two children.
After studying the pruning, the fertilization and the phytosanitary treatments aimed at safeguarding the environment and quality winemaking, he started the production and marketing of DOCG wines such as Greco di Tufo, Aglianico and Aglianico-Taurasi.
The vineyards are located in the volcanic areas of Irpinia. They are conducted in a biodynamic way to respect the Nature-Plants-Animals symbiosis.
The wines received excellent international awards: 93pts. by James Suckling for the Taurasi docg Riserva 2007, 92pts. from Ultimate Wine Challenge for the Greco di Tufo docg 2018, again 92pts from Ultimate Wine Challenge for the Taurasi docg Riserva 2007, and three stars from Veronelli in the 2020 guide.
The estate is located on the green hills of Prata di Principato Ultra close to Avellino. It has three hectares: one for each type of grape. The annual production is 30,000 bottles, which means 10,000 bottles for each type of wine.
